Printing Paper: How to Tell the Quality of Cash Register Rolls Apart?
When printing on paper rolls, first examine the appearance of the paper. High-quality thermal cash register paper features a uniform color, excellent smoothness, and high whiteness with a slight greenish tint. If the paper appears overly white, it indicates that the protective and thermal coatings are improperly formulated, likely due to an excessive addition of fluorescent powder. Additionally, if the paper lacks sufficient smoothness or looks uneven, it suggests an inconsistent coating application. And if the paper reflects intense glare, this also points to an overabundance of fluorescent powder in the formulation. Next, test the paper by gently heating its back side with fire. If brown discoloration appears on the paper, it signals that the thermal formula may be flawed and the product could have a shorter shelf life. On the other hand, if fine stripes or unevenly colored patches emerge in the black areas of the paper after heating, this clearly indicates an uneven coating distribution. High-quality paper, when heated properly, should turn a deep black-green hue, with uniformly shaded color blocks that gradually transition from the center outward toward the edges.
