Applications of thermal paper across various industries
Thermal cash register paper is widely used in various fields, including shopping malls, supermarket POS systems, hotel and restaurant operations, banking systems, telecommunications, healthcare, and more. The production principle behind thermal cash register paper involves coating a thin layer of fine powder onto a standard paper substrate. This powder consists of colorless dyes—such as phenols or other acidic compounds—separated by a protective film. When heat is applied, the film melts, allowing the powder to mix and triggering a visible color-changing reaction. However, the colored text on thermal cash register paper tends to be unstable and prone to fading over time, making the document content difficult to read.
